David Lee Roth was stopped by FOX News Tuesday at Los Angeles International Airport returning from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico where he performed at a birthday party. The rocker hinted that he’s not done yet.
Roth, who hasn’t performed in public since 2020, said: "There's always a tomorrow for a singer, not so much for a trombone player these days, okay? How many times did 'Rocky' retire? Seven? How many times did 'Rambo' have to come out of retirement in order to make the sequel? Like I said, I'm only in the middle of my first retirement."
Roth was asked about a possible Van Halen tribute tour with he, Alex Van Halen and Michael Anthony would be joined by guest guitarists such as Joe Satriani and Toto's Steve Lukather.
He said, "Yeah, I wrote the songs … I was the one who named the band." Roth added, "I'm at the point now where I'm making sure the entire world knows I'm not talking."
Last October, Roth announced his retirement. He pulled out of his House of Blues in Las Vegas residency in January. We’ll see what happens next. Stay tuned.
