David Lee Roth treated his fans to a new song last Sunday. "Pointing at the Moon" is a piano and acoustic jazzy style ballad to accompany a painting he made with that title back in February.
Speculation has it that some of the song’s lyrics pertain to the long-proposed Eddie Van Halen tribute tour, which has yet to materialize. The song’s lyrics are listed below:
"Moment of truth now / Your bags are packed / With lies you can go forward / But you cannot go back"
Spend my life pointing at the moon / you spent yours looking at my finger
Next clown jumpin' on the mattress while I'm paying dues! / Yeah, you'll do plenty of business here / What does that make you?
The song is David Lee Roth's first new music since 2020, when he dropped five previously unreleased songs recorded nearly a decade ago in his online comic, The Roth Project. Those songs were "Giddy-Up!," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill," "Alligator Pants," "Lo-Rez Sunset" and "Manda Bala."[Source: Classic Hits Today]
