Queen hit another big milestone

Queen have just surpassed another big milestone in their long and storied legacy. The 1981 Greatest Hits’ collection has just become the first album in the U.K. to surpass seven-million in sales according to the Official Charts Company.

Brian May and Roger Taylor commented on the milestone, saying:

Brian: "No album has actually done this before in history."

Roger: So the British public and their infinitely-great taste made this the biggest-selling album in history. Thank you very much; we’re humbled and honored.

Brian: "We are indeed. And it's actually quite good."

Roger: "It's got hits on it."

Brian: "Thank you."

Roger: "We salute you.”

The collection includes the Queen classics "We Will Rock You," "Don’t Stop Me Now," "Another One Bites the Dust," "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" and "Bohemian Rhapsody" among others.

The album reached this current feat through a combination of physical sales, downloads and streams. Greatest Hits has accumulated 1.1 billion total U.K. streams. The most-streamed song is "Bohemian Rhapsody" with 240 million.

The album just celebrated its 1000th week on the Official Albums Chart, making Queen the first British act ever to achieve that milestone.
