John Mellencamp has just announced the release of a deluxe reissue of his iconic 1985 album, ‘Scarecrow.’
The CD box set will be released on November 4th. It will feature a remixed and remastered edition of the album, along with a second disc containing 11 bonus tracks, previously unreleased. It’ll also contain a booklet of previously unreleased photos and all-new liner notes.
There’s also word of a super deluxe edition that will add an Atmos mix of the original album on Blu-Ray CD, a 180-gram LP, an original picture sleeve of the 7-inch single for "Small Town", a photo booklet, lithographs, a poster and an essay.
Mellencamp made the announcement and demos for "Small Town" and "Small Town (2022 Mix)” were also released.
‘Scarecrow’ is Mellencamp's eighth album. It features three smash hits: “R.O.C.K in the U.S.A. (A Salute to '60s Rock),” “Lonely Ol’ Night,” and “Small Town.” The album peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart.
He’s also working on an all-new album and he’s expected to announce a tour next month.
John Mellencamp labeled himself when he spoke at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2008. He said: "I've been a total walking contradiction my entire career and I intend to stay that way. I've never cared about money, but I always wanted to get paid. I never cared about having hit records, but always wanted to hear my songs on the radio. I never cared what the critics had to say, but I always paid close attention to what they wrote."
