A 1953 double-decker bus that Paul McCartney bought for a Wings European tour in 1972 has now been fully restored.
The bus underwent a 16-month restoration effort at the commercial vehicle body and repair shop Simon Morris Thorpe Ltd in Thorpe-le-Soken, England.
Bradley Earl, who oversaw a four-man team on the job, says, "My mum is a huge Sir Paul McCartney fan so I just had to do it.
He added, “I was more excited to get going on it as opposed to nervous, but it was quite a difficult job because it was rotten from top to bottom. The hardest part was fitting the 70-year-old windows with new rubber -- that took a long time because we did not want to break them.”
He went on to say, “We did a preservation restoration and only replaced what needed to be replaced and what could be kept original is still original.”
The group did add one modification -- a cool fold-out stage inspired by The Beatles’ 1969 rooftop concert in London.
The bus is currently in storage and will only be taken out for special events.
