The Pinellas County, Florida medical examiner has released a cause of death for “Flashdance” star Irene Cara. The beloved singer passed away last November from hypertension and high cholesterol, defined as two types of cardiovascular disease.
Cara is known for two 80’s classics, “Flashdance” and “Fame.” In addition to headlining both movies, Cara performed the title song for both of them. She was nominated for a Best Actress Award at the Golden Globes for “Fame.”
Irene’s biggest moment was a win at the Academy Awards. She received the award for “Best Song” for “Flashdance What A Feeling.”
Irene Cara once commented on how her music reflects her maturity. She said, "Yeah, well I'm not 18 anymore [laugh]. I'm very happy not to be. I had my pop princess years and I think I did them rather well. But this is about artistry now. This is a departure from the kind of music I did as a kid."
