U2 bassist Adam Clayton has opened up about the direction of the band's next album, which both Bono and The Edge have described as guitar driven.
Clayton told Mojo magazine, "We are turning the amps on. I certainly think the rock that we all grew up with as 16- and 17-year-olds, that rawness of those Patti Smith, Iggy Pop records … that kind of power is something we would love to connect back into.”
When he was asked how it will compare to their long-in-the works Songs of Ascent, he said, “Well, Songs Of Ascent is a much more meditative, spiritual record. This will be Songs For Fighting, I’d say.”
This Friday brings the release Songs of Surrender, a collection of 40 re-recordings from their catalog. Listen to iHeartRadio Icons with The Edge: Celebrating U2’s Songs of Surrender this Friday evening at 6pm on the Classic Rock Channel on iHeartRadio.
