U2’s new album ‘Songs of Surrender’ was released on Friday, along with a new documentary.
‘Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming,’ hosted by David Letterman, is being labeled as “part concert movie, part travel adventure plus a whole lot of Bono and The Edge, with Dave’s humor throughout.”
The Edge talked about the Disney+ documentary. He said, "We've had quite a long history with David Letterman, so the intention with this special, I suppose, was to give our fans a little glimpse into the history of the songwriting, and our city, Dublin, and the community which we came out of that we still draw from. So it's very intimate and it's like a peak behind the curtain to some extent. And Dave is like our outside eye, and we end up writing a song, really inspired by some of the stories that he's been telling us and what he's been up to in Dublin. So that was a fun little thing to do at the end."
David Letterman commented on the song. He said, "I’m still processing it because most songs written about me begin, ‘Hey dumb***,’ so this was an unusual experience.”
