George Michael's family has commented on his election into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
In a statement, the family said, “We are incredibly proud to learn that George will be officially inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame later this year. He would have been honored to be included in such esteemed company.”
The family added, "George’s family and George Michael Entertainment would like to congratulate the other legendary inductees, and of course to all of the wonderful fans and those who voted every day for George, thank you for your continued and loyal support."
This was Michael's first nomination. He’d been eligible since 2012. Michael will be inducted along with Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Missy Elliott, The Spinners and Sheryl Crow on November 3rd at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
George Michael passed away on Christmas 2016 at age 53.
