Another reissue from the David Bowie estate is on the way. It will be a remastered version of the concert film ‘Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture.’
This latest version of the film adds some extra footage from the show, along with scenes with Jeff Beck, including his guest performance "The Jean Genie." Part of that performance was recently used in the Moonage Daydream film that was released in 2022. The audio was remixed into 5.1 sound by Bowie's longtime producer and collaborator Tony Visconti.
Ziggy Stardust and The Spiders From Mars: The Motion Picture was directed by D.A. Pennebaker. It documents what became the last show Bowie did as the Ziggy character and also for the original Spiders from Mars band.
The film will have its debut on July 3rd at the Eventim Apollo Hammersmith (formerly known as the Odeon) in London, 50 years to the day after the concert took place at the same venue. It will also be shown in over 1000 theaters worldwide later in July.
