Def Leppard's latest album, ‘Drastic Symphonies,’ which was recorded with London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, is #1 for a second straight week on Billboard's Classical and Classical Crossover charts.
Leppard guitarist Vivian Campbell said the album’s title came from having to drastically remix some of the songs: "The biggest example of that is 'Pour Some Sugar on Me.' And we kind of knew going into it that to put strings behind 'Pour Some Sugar on Me' was really not gonna work very well, you know. It was just gonna be ponderous. So we ended up doing a very, very drastic remix of that song."
Campbell said the recording process at London's Royal Albert Hall was "magical," most especially being in the same room as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra: "It's so emotional. It's so overwhelming. The sound is so glorious and you just feel it resonate through your body. And, you know, as I always say, it's a pleasure to work with real musicians on occasion, or at least watch them work, you know."
