Steve Miller is teasing next month's deluxe reissue of his eighth album, ‘The Joker’ from 1973. He just released “Sugar Babe Suite.” Steve shows how the album's first song, "Sugar Babe," came together from its beginnings as a four-track early version of the song in 1972, a live version from 1973, and then the final album version.
Miller said, “'Sugar Babe' turned into a powerful electric riff in the studio, but in this first recording it’s just a small seed of an idea. Eventually it got defined on the stage and in the studio and that’s what you hear.”
The reissue is titled J50: The Evolution of The Joker, and it will be released on September 15th in various configurations, including vinyl with a limited-edition lithograph and an exclusive reproduction of a vintage The Joker iron-on.
