Aerosmith fans will have to wait until 2024 to see their favorite rock band on stage, as the ‘Peace Out’ tour has been postponed due to Steven Tyler's vocal injury. The band announced the news on their official website, saying that Tyler's condition is more serious than they initially thought.
"Unfortunately, Steven Tyler’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx, which requires ongoing care... Given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential. As a result, all the currently scheduled Peace Out shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more," the statement read.
Tyler also expressed his disappointment and apologized to the fans, saying he is "heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes [who are opening the tour], rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
The Peace Out tour was supposed to be Aerosmith's farewell tour, celebrating their 50th anniversary as a band. They did three shows before Tyler blew his voice out on September 9th in Elmont, New York. The tour was scheduled to run until December 18th, with stops in North America and Europe.
Fans who have already purchased tickets for the postponed shows will be able to use them for the rescheduled dates, or get a refund if they are unable to attend. The band advised fans to contact their point of purchase for more information on refunds and rescheduling.
Aerosmith thanked their fans for their support and understanding, and promised to keep them updated on Tyler's recovery and the new tour dates. They also urged their fans to stay safe and healthy amid the ongoing pandemic.
