David Lee Roth has surprised his fans with another song from his unreleased album that he recorded in 2007 with John 5, the current guitarist of Motley Crue.
The song is called "Manda Bala," and it is an acoustic ballad that showcases Roth's vocal range and John 5's guitar skills. The title means "send a bullet" in Portuguese, and it is also a slang expression for "go for it" or "give it your best shot."
"Manda Bala" was previously featured in The Roth Project, an online comic that Roth narrated in 2020. The comic tells the story of a futuristic Los Angeles where a virus has wiped out most of the population and Roth leads a group of rebels against the tyrannical government.
The song is the fifth track to be released from the album, which John 5 says contains 11 songs in total. The other songs that have been revealed so far are "Giddy-Up!," "Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar and Grill," "Alligator Pants" and "Lo-Rez Sunset."
The album was recorded at Henson Recording Studios in Hollywood, but it has never been officially released. Roth has not explained why he decided to share some of the songs now, but he has hinted that he might have more surprises in store for his fans.
Roth's last solo album was Diamond Dave, which came out in 2003. He also reunited with Van Halen for two albums, A Different Kind of Truth in 2012 and Tokyo Dome Live in Concert in 2015.
