INXS has gifted their fans a rare glimpse into the creative process behind one of their most iconic songs, "Never Tear Us Apart." A five-minute behind-the-scenes video posted by the band reveals the making of the 1987 hit's music video, which has surpassed over 100 million views.
Andrew Farriss, the band's keyboardist, reflects on the desire to break new ground, to step away from the familiar and venture into uncharted artistic territory. This sentiment was initially met with some humor by the late frontman Michael Hutchence, who found the departure from their norm amusing. Hutchence's tune later changed, embracing the new direction with enthusiasm, saying, "I love that. Whatever you’re doing is great."
The video also includes archival footage of Hutchence, who speaks fondly of filming in Prague. He highlights the spirit of the locals there, which not only left a lasting impression on him but also served as a poignant reminder to cherish one's blessings.
"Never Tear Us Apart," soulful fourth single from their album "Kick," peaked at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100. Andrew Farriss celebrates his 65th birthday today.
