Last year, the Talking Heads regrouped to promote the re-mastered version of their 1984 concert film, "Stop Making Sense". This sparked hope among fans for a potential reunion performance or tour. The anticipation was further fueled when drummer Chris Frantz posted a photo of the marquee of the Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, and the caption of the photo read, “We shall return.”
Frantz soon realized that his caption could be misinterpreted as a hint towards a musical reunion. To clarify, he later commented under the photo, "Of course, I’m referring to our appearance and Q&A with Fred Armisen at the Pantages Theater screening of Stop Making Sense on June 4th. The Pantages is where we shot the movie in 1983." This statement made it clear that the return he referred to was not a performance, but an appearance for a Q&A session.
Frantz further clarified, saying, "No, we will not be performing music. That will be up on the silver screen." This statement put to rest any lingering hopes of a musical reunion, at least for the time being.
